Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode
The Woodlands
Aug 30, 2009

It's been a few years since I last saw Depeche Mode live. I was supposed to work that Sunday and when they asked me to change to Tuesday, I gladly changed so I could go.

Peter Bjorn and John opened. I am not very familiar with their stuff and they didn't blow me away but I didn't want to throw anything at them either. They only played 30 or so minutes, so not too long.

Seemed to take forever for DM's crew the set their stage. Or maybe they just wanted to start at set time, but an hour is a long time to wait between bands. Thankfully it wasn't too hot at the Woodlands that night. The seats in front of me stayed empty until almost show time, then the tallest Mexican in Texas came and occupied the seat in front of me. Then of course being super tall wasn't enough for him, he had to also bring binoculars so both his arms could stick out for the whole show just to make sure I didn't try and peek around him or anything. And no please don't allow you 3 foot tall wife to stand in front of me or even in her own seat. Please both of you should stand in front of me.....really, I insist.

Depeche Mode took the stage at 9pm, played until 11pm. Set contained a nice mix from throughout their career. Dave started stripping off clothes after song 1. No signs of him being remotely sick. He danced and shook his cute little ass all night. Martin had a couple of solos and he sounded just beautiful. They had some nice visuals. The sound could have been louder. I should be able to hear all the people around me talking. Crowd was really into it and sang and clappedalong. I was most looking forward to Personal Jesus but Behind the Wheel turned out to be my fav of the night.
